Jackie B Brockis is a neurodivergent Cheshire-based Cloud, Pareidolic & Nature Photographer.
Inspired by the Natural World, her Photographic Artwork seeks to capture the wonder in Clouds and other naturally occuring Biological and Physical structures that support life on Earth today. In doing so, she challenges everyone to look at our world a little differently!
To seek out and explore the wonder in the world around us!
Why I’m a Photographer…
For me, there is a real magic in Photography; in capturing light in a given place and moment in time when everything is as it should be, compositionally.
When you and the camera shutter are offered and accept the outstretched hand of the Universe to hold an exclusive moment of existence forever; knowing that outside of that hallowed window, it could only ever be but a glimmer of the truth, at best.
Often, it’s the moments when life feels as if it is being intentionally lived or felt to the fullest!
Decisive Moments!
The photograph is of the great 20th Century photographer, Henri Cartier-Bresson with one of his iconic photographs, ‘Behind the Gare Saint-Lazare’ (taken in 1932).
A collection of his photographs was published in 1952 with the title ‘The Decisive Moment’, inspired by a quotation from the 17th-century French statesman Cardinal de Retz: “There is nothing in this world that does not have its decisive moment.”
Cartier-Bresson embraced the phrase because it perfectly expressed his belief that, in every unfolding scene, there is a fleeting instant when subject, light, gesture and composition come together in perfect harmony.
For Cartier-Bresson, the decisive moment was far more than simply reacting quickly. He believed that photography was “the simultaneous recognition, in a fraction of a second, of the significance of an event and the precise organisation of forms which give that event its proper expression
One of the most influential concepts in the history of photography, his photography and in particular, this concept had a profound influence on myself and the work that you see here on my website.

What feels even more astonishing - beyond the images themselves - is the likelihood of these events actually physically occurring. Of molecules coming together to 'create' the exact artforms seen or at least to allow the pareidolically gifted to recognise them. And yet they did...
Perhaps it's in these 'decisive moments' that we might consider possibilities beyond human 'quirks of perception'. The possibility that the Universe is indeed communicating with us.
Hoping that someday soon, as a world, we’ll reply back. Until then, I will continue to be its Witness.
Publications
In recent years, I’ve begun to share my photographs more widely, with some published work appearing in magazines such as ‘This England’ and newspapers such as ‘The Oxford Mail’.
Other Images have been commissioned for Postcards by organisations such as the GRAIN Projects, an arts organisation dedicated to commissioning, facilitating and delivering ambitious, engaging and high quality photography projects.
